Stony Brook Defeats Towson

Number six Stony Brook defeated visiting Towson University by a score of 13-8 on a beautiful 50-degree night at LaValle Stadium in Stony Brook, NY.

Stony Brook dominated play in the first half scoring seven of the first nine goals and holding on to the lead going into halftime leading 9-4. S Freshman Kailyn Hart scored her eighth goal on the season 29 seconds into the game. She scored her second of the game 15 minutes later. Senior Ally Kennedy had her fourth game with four goals bringing her season goal stat to 16 and her total points to 20. Taryn Ohlmiller tallied three goals on her own while adding a five-assist game.

Stony Brook went up 13-4 with 15:28 remaining in the game. The Seawolves offensive domination ended there and Towson took advantage by scoring four unanswered goals to end the game. The final goal coming with 28 seconds remaining.

Towson senior Shelby Stack recorded two goals, one assist and 1-2 on Free Position plays. Sophomore Kerri Thornton had two goals and six draw controls. Sophomores Kerri and Nicole Liucci had a homecoming last night and both had a goal apiece.

After falling to 1-4 on the season, Towson will look to host Ohio State on Tuesday, March 10. Stony Brook plays fellow top-20 opponent on Saturday when number 11 Princeton comes to the Island for a noon-time draw.
