Kieran Mullins, Rutgers, Attack, Islip; 2021- G: 13, AST: 14
The ‘commander’ (team captain) of the Scarlet Knights stepped up when the team needed him most. Up 10-9, Mullins put an end to the back-and-forth scoring affair versus no.14-John Hopkins with 11 minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, scoring two-straight goals in eight seconds. His scores sparked an unanswered five goal run that locked down no.7-Rutgers fourth victory over a Big Ten opponent this season. Mullins ranks second in the conference in assists, fourth with 27 points scored and is tied for seventh in goals.
Brendan Krebs, Manhattan, Goalie, East Williston; 2021- SV: 44, SV%: 67%
The Manhattan Jaspers improved to 2-0 in their MAAC season, due in large part to the blocking of Krebs. The goalkeeper faced 22 shots and prevented 15 from finding the back of the net in the 11-7 win over Detroit Mercy. The Chaminade-graduate’s 7.33 goals-allowed average paces the conference among staring goalkeepers for the third consecutive season.
Samantha Lynch, #7 Notre Dame, Attack, Huntington; 2021- G 20, PTS 24
It took Lynch three weeks to get nine goals this season. It took the attacker only two days to match that goal mark again. After being held to just two goals versus no.2-Syracuse, Lynch fired four shots to the back of the net in the 19-5 win over Liberty and connected on her scoring chances five times in the 15-10 against no.15-Louisville.
Dynamic Duo of the Week
Cara Urbank and Belle Smith, #5 Boston, Attack and Midfield, Mineola and Westhampton Beach
It’s not often one can claim they outscored Alyssa Parrella, the CAA’s all-time leading goal scorer, but Boston was able to hold her to one goal. On the attack Urbank and Smith played a big role in controlling the ball and earning the 19-7 victory over Hofstra. Urbank led the game with seven points and five assists, dishing many to leading scorer Charlotte North. While North led the contest with six goals, Smith added four more for the Eagles as they improved to 5-1 this season.
