The Stony Brook Women’s Lacrosse team will gain another offensive catalyst for the upcoming season. Kaeli Huff will play her final collegiate season at Stony Brook, the team confirmed Wednesday afternoon.

Huff spent over three seasons with the USC Trojans. She earned one more year due to the COVID-19 pandemic cancelling the 2020 season.

“We could not be more excited to add a player and person like Kaeli to our program,” Stony Brook Women’s Lacrosse head coach Joe Spallina said in a press release. “She is someone I have watched in high school as an All-American and through college as a standout midfielder. To be able to add a talent like Kaeli to our team is enormous and we could not be happier.

Huff ranks eighth all-time in USC Program history with 102 points earned. The midfielder scored the seventh-most goals in program history with 86. She also ranks 10th with 46 caused turnovers.

The midfielder earned 30 points last season, 24 of those coming off goals. She started every game last season and celebrated winning the Pac-12 regular and tournament titles. USC fell to Denver in the opening round of the 2019 NCAA Women’s Lacrosse Championship Tournament, 11-10.

“I am so excited to have the opportunity to play for Coach Spallina, Coach Hillier, Coach Miceli and for a program like Stony Brook,” Huff said in a press release. “Being able to play for such a talented program right on Long Island is something I’m so grateful for. I’m looking forward to joining this team and a great 2021 season as a Seawolf.”

The Eastport, N.Y. native spent five years at Eastport-South Manor High School, a letterwinner in every year. The midfielder led the program to its first-ever New York State Class B title in 2015, scoring six goals in the game, and the Long Island Championship. She was honored as a U.S. Lacrosse High School All-American, All-Long Island, and MSG All-Metro Team member two times each.

Kaeli played collegiate lacrosse alongside her sister, Kelsey. Her uncles, Kevin and Keith Huff, played football at Hofstra. Keith also played lacrosse for the college and professionally for the New York Lizards.

Stony Brook was scheduled to play USC before the season was canceled. The Seawolves finished the season 4-1 and ranked fifth in the IWLCA and Inside Lacrosse national polls. Inside Lacrosse originally tweeted about the transfer move on Friday, April 24th.
