Senior Tyler Meotti tallied the game’s opening goal as the No. 3 Commack High School boy’s soccer team extended its unbeaten streak to 10 games with a 2-0 win over No. 9 Brentwood High School on the road on Monday afternoon.

With the win, the Cougars move to 9-0-1 on the season and remain atop the League 1 standing with a 9-0-1 league record.  The Indians, now 7-2-0 on the year and in league play, sit at third of the League 1 table. Brentwood’s only two losses come from Commack, where the side fell to the Cougars 1-0 back on Sept. 7.

After a scoreless first half, the Cougars extended their goal-scoring streak to 10 game when Meotti directed home a set piece by Matt Newfield in the 60th minute.

“Scoring the first goal felt good, it gave the team some relief,” stated Meotti.

10 minutes later, Rothar, who was tripped up in the box, connected with a header, from the floor and flicked it upper-90 to put the guests up 2-0.

Commack’s leading scorer, Matthew Cozetti controlled the offense dispute being pressured by the Brentwood defenders.

“This game was very important, Brentwood is one of our strongest opponents and the win gives up a lot of confidence going into the end of the season,” Meotti said.

Commack returns home on October 5 to take on Sachem East at Commack High School at 4:00 PM.
