Division-I

Fordham: Fordham defeated USF 2-0. Starter Ben Greenberg, relievers Anthony DiMeglio and Alvin Melendez combined to go the distance and allow only one hit and two walks in the shutout. Second baseman Nick Labella had one of the four hits for the Rams on the afternoon. He accounted for both of the Fordham runs, driving one in and scoring one himself.

St. John’s: St. John’s stayed red-hot as they blanked Monmouth 3-0 in victory. Starter Sean Mooney pitched six solid innings of no run ball to go along with 11 strikeouts for his second win of the season. The Red Storm pounded out nine hits; Luke Stampfl, Ryan Hogan, John Valente and Josh Shaw each had two hits on the afternoon. The win makes five in a row to start the season for St. John’s.

Stony Brook: Stony Brook defeated Iona 5-3. Catcher Sean Buckhout delivered the go ahead two-run hit to put the Sea Wolves up 5-3 in the 6th inning. Aaron Glickstein and Aaron Pinto combined for four innings of relief work, giving up zero runs and only one hit. Pinto picked up his third save of the season.

Hofstra: Hofstra lost to Lamar University 2-1 in their season opener. Hofstra starting pitcher John Rooney was strong on the afternoon, going six scoreless innings, striking out five and allowing five hits. Back-to-back RBI’s from Lamar’s Cole Coker and Cole Secrest in the bottom of the 7th helped capture a 2-1 lead. Lamar pitcher Tanner Driskill pitched a perfect 8th and 9th inning to earn his second save of the season and give the Cardinals the first of the double header.

Hofstra lost their second game of the double header, falling 3-0 to Lamar University. The Pride mustered only four hits, two of them coming from Parker Quinn. Lamar outfielder Cole Coker knocked in another pair of runs for the Cardinals, solidifying the win and sending Hofstra its second loss of the day.

Division-II

LIU Post: LIU Post lost their first game of the double header 8-3 to Wilmington. Center fielder Rob Andreoli capped a 2-for-5 day with a two-run homerun, his first of the season. Noah Lorenzo suffered his first loss of the season as Wilmington ace Brad Scull went seven innings of two-run baseball to earn his first victory of the season.

The Pioneers dropped their second game of the double header, losing 9-8 to Stonehill. There were no stats provided from either team on the game.

Molloy: Molloy defeated Concordia 10-7 in the first game of the double header. The Lions had 13 hits in the game, three of them coming from red-hot freshman DH Matt Overton. He drove in three runs and scored three as well. First baseman Angelo Navatta went 3-for-5 with two runs and an RBI as well.

Molloy lost to Stonehill 10-7 in the second game of the double header. After being down 7-1, Stonehill climbed back, scoring five runs in the fifth inning to cut the deficit to 7-6. A homerun from Stonehill outfielder Patrick Downey knotted it up at 7. They went on to score three more in the bottom of the 7th to take a commanding 10-7 lead. Molloy first baseman Angelo Navetta went 2-for-3 on the afternoon, knocking two doubles, scoring three runs and plating one. DH Sean Hogan also had a productive afternoon, going 2-for-4 with one double and two runs. The Lions moved to 2-3 on the season with the split of the double header.
